Subject: Invitation to Participate in Desire2Move 2022
Good morning! I’m Becky Ellis, a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health at GSU, and the program coordinator of Desire2Move (D2M). D2M is an annual physical
activity program our department sponsors for employees. I am writing to officially invite your department to participate in the 9th annual D2M Physical Activity Challenge that will take place February 7-April 3, 2022.
D2M encourages employees to be physically active through peer support. Employees include graduate student teaching and research assistants, part-time employees, and full-time
employees. Anyone who is primarily assigned to your department during the spring 2022 semester is eligible (except undergraduate students).
The challenge lasts 8 weeks and each employee from your department who registers will make up your team. Team members log completed minutes of physical activity in a
free mobile app (or website) to contribute to their team's total minutes. Each department will be competing against other departments to win the awesome Golden Shoe Trophy. The team from GSU Recreational Services was the 2021 D2M Champion!
D2M is also 100% digital, meaning program information is shared through email and mobile apps, so employees can be active anywhere. Now, more than ever, it is important
for us to be physically active. Physical activity is an effective way to manage symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression, it improves our immune system, and it can be safely done in many settings. Please consider joining D2M so you can experience the benefits
of physical activity in a socially supportive community.
Please respond to this email at your earliest convenience to let us know if your department would like to participate in D2M.
If yes, please let me know who your team captain will be and provide their email address.
Team captains are responsible for recruiting and sharing program information with team members. The captain is the team’s wellness champion! Choose someone who will be committed
to this role.
If no, please provide a brief explanation as to why so we can continue to improve our program and better meet your needs in the future.
If you need to learn more about D2M, please visit our webpage.
https://education.gsu.edu/kh/khresearchoutreach/desire2move/ We can also share more information about D2M with your department by attending an upcoming faculty/staff meeting.
Please let me know if you have any questions or how I can better assist you. We are looking forward to another great year!
Thank you for your time,
Becky
