Dear students,
See below for a fellowship opportunity for study of languages abroad. They are having information sessions this week (scroll all the way They say you need to be committed to a career in public service, which
they define broadly (think not only stuff like CIA, state department, but also CDC, et cetera).
Take care,

Subject: Boren Fellowship for Study of Critical Language Abroad
Dear Graduate Directors,
Greetings from The Graduate School! As the Fellowships Advisor, I work with students applying to nationally competitive fellowships. We have someone from Boren visiting on Wednesday (and also doing a virtual
session in November) to talk about this study abroad scholarship which funds students to go abroad to study a critical language with the option to also conduct research. Students must be committed to a career in public service and should be prepared to make
a connection between their field of study and US national security- defined broadly to include both traditional areas (diplomacy, defense, intelligence) and also any topic addressing challenges facing global society (Public Health, Cybersecurity, Food Security,
Economics, Transportation, Energy, Migration, etc).
I hope you might help me spread the word to your students. Here’s the website, and more details are in the email below:
https://www.borenawards.org/
You and your students are very welcome to reach out to me with any questions. Interested students are strongly encouraged to work with me on their applications.
Thank you,
Katrina
