Programming Club at GSU is hosting two events this week:
Friday 10/15 @ 2 - 4 PM Adventure Game Workshop: This Friday, we will have our second club event - A text-Based Adventure game! Tune in to see our club project that our club leaders built last semester to bring to you. This workshop will demonstrate how you can contribute to code and give an insight on how to create an object-oriented game using Java and through Git/GitHub. If you were not here for our first event on Git, the event recording will be posted on our website to watch. Most importantly, no prior knowledge or experience is needed, as we encourage everyone interested to pitch in!

Sunday 10/17 @ 2 - 4 PM Mock Interviews: Join us for our first mock interview prep session this week! Our club leaders, Japnit and Ikenna, will walk through a demo interview, providing insight on what to expect and tips for improving performance. Afterward, everyone will get a chance to practice interview-level questions in pairs. (Knowledge of Data Structures & Algorithms is required, but anyone can come to spectate the interviews!).

Girls Who Code at GSU is hosting two upcoming events:
On Thursday October 14, Girls Who Code at GSU will be holding a beginner's Python workshop that will be hosted by Sravanthi Malepati, a computer science graduate student at Georgia State. The meeting will be held virtually via Google Meet from 4:00pm - 5:00pm.
Participants will learn basic skills in the Python coding language. Everyone is welcome!

On Thursday, October 21 Girls Who Code at GSU will be holding our fourth UI/UX design workshop as part of the club's UI/UX design bootcamp that will be held weekly throughout the remainder of the semester! This meeting, as well as subsequent meetings, will be held by Sanjana Bhat, a member of the organization's leadership board. The meeting will be held in the CS Meeting Room at 25 Park Place in room 755 from 4-5pm EST.

Job Announcements/Career Opportunities:
The application to #TwitterAcademy is now open! #TwitterAcademy is a paid 12-week summer internship program for historically underrepresented (Women, Black, Hispanic/Latinx, and/or Indigenous People) second-year computer science students located in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. All candidates will participate in interview prep workshops, meet with senior leaders and engage with our #TwitterAcademy alumni during an interview prep day on December 8th and will interview for internship positions on December 9th.

The Human Computer Interaction Graduate Program and the Virtual Reality Applications Center at Iowa State University are hosting an exciting REU program for the Summer of 2022! The program is a ten-week undergraduate internship where students work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams, receive core training, and gain hands-on research experience with emerging interface technologies.
Program Dates:Tuesday, May 31, 2022 – Saturday, August 6, 2022
Application Deadline: December 31st, 2021 (or until all positions are filled)
