Subject: Accommodations for GTAs
 
Hi All,

I have received a number of questions regarding whether or not there is a process for GTAs in need of employment-related accommodations.  The Graduate School is planning to send targeted communications to graduate assistants detailing their options, but while we await those communications, please share with your graduate assistants that they have the ability to request accommodations following the same protocol that is available to faculty and staff through Human Resources.  The protocol is outlined in the FAQ sent out by the Provost's Office today: https://provost.gsu.edu/resources/return-to-campus-faqs/.  The deadline for requesting accommodations is June 30. Let me know if you'd like to discuss this process in greater detail, or if you're getting a large number of students expressing concern and you just want to talk through options.

Dear colleagues,

President Becker and I are committed to keeping you as informed as possible of new developments at the university as we move through the summer and prepare for the fall semester. To help address questions you may have about the return to our campuses this fall, we’ve developed a frequently asked questions page at https://provost.gsu.edu/resources/return-to-campus-faqs/ to provide helpful information.

The FAQs address multiple topics, including the academic plan for fall, health and safety concerns, alternative work arrangements, instruction and interaction with students in face-to-face classrooms, testing and contact tracing, and cleaning and sanitation. The page also includes a form to submit additional questions not addressed in the FAQs.

We’ll keep this page updated with new information as it develops. Georgia State’s main www.gsu.edu/coronavirus page also provides a wealth of information for our students, faculty and staff, and is a great resource for keeping up to date.
