Announcements:

·         The CS Department welcomes the new Facebook Engineer in Residence, Rachel Min, for spring 2020. Please keep a look-out for her email invitations for Competitive Programming Events and Career Workshops happening this semester


Events:

 

·         [FEATURED SPEAKER] Dr. Zhu Han, from the University of Houston, will speak tomorrow about Secure Computation with Privacy Preservation for Cyber Physical System Applications (see flyer)

o    Time and Place: Thursday, January 23, 2020, 4:30pm at Conference Room 755, 25 Park Place

·         STEMulate is hosting the event Starting Soft Skills this Thursday, January 23rd at Student Center East 201, between 5:00pm - 6:00pm 

o    "Join us for a session to expand your knowledge of soft skills! It is a great opportunity for students to learn more about interview prep and how to stand out in the STEM field" (see flyer) 

·         Girls Who Code is hosting their first meeting of the spring semester this Friday, January 24th from 3pm - 5pm (see flyer)

·         NCR Day 2020 - Stop by and meet NCR reps from the Mobile Development, DevOps, and Cloud teams, along with Product Owners. The event is happening Tuesday, January 28th, in Student Center West, Room 460/462 from 11am - 3pm (see flyer) 

·         Student Assistant position - with the GSU Advanced Research Computing Technology and Innovation Core (ARCTIC) (see flyer)

Scholarship & Research Opportunities for CS Undergraduates:

 

·         Want to help the homeless using technology? If you are interested in using your technology skills to help the homeless in Atlanta, please contact GSU Economics professor, Dr. Rusty Tchernis, at [log in to unmask] (NOTE: You may receive course credit for summer 2020) 

o    Dr. Tchernis specifically needs students who are skilled in web-site design and working with large data sets 

·         Scholarships Applications are now being accepted for WIT Girls and WIT Campus (see link)

·         Oakland University - Undergraduate Computer Research (UnCoRe) program in Cybersecurity is now accepting applications for summer 2020. The application deadline is March 15th, 2020 (see flyer) 

·         GSURC - GSU Honors College is pleased to announce that the 14th annual Georgia State Undergraduate Research Conference (GSURC) will be held on Friday, April 17 in the Student Center. Please consider submitting a research poster!! (see flyer) 

·         2020 Summer REU Program - sponsored by Marquette University - Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) - Data Science Across Disciplines - June 1 - August 7, 2020 (see flyer)
