Please see below for an important note from the Associate Provost for Graduate Studies:
Importance of using the correct title for Graduate Assistants-
Please be cautious when changing the Job Code for Graduate Research Assistants. Changes in Job Codes can result in a loss of health insurance coverage. Graduate Assistants with “research” in their title (see list below) have access to two types of health insurance from Georgia State, the Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP), administered by United Health Care, and the employer provided option, administered by Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Graduate Assistants opting for the BC/BS policy will automatically have their BC/BS insurance revoked if their job title is changed such that research is no longer a part of their paid responsibilities. The combined codes (below) were created for those Graduate Assistants who are compensated for research and another activity (e.g., teaching, administration). Only Graduate Assistants who are no longer compensated for research activities should have a Job Code other than those below.
Job Codes Eligible for the BC/BS GRA Health Plan:
907X01-Graduate Research Assistant
907X03- Graduate Teaching A & Research Assistant
907X04-Graduate Teaching B & Research Assistant
907X05-Graduate Admin & Research Assistant
907X06-Graduate Computing Research Assistant
