Dear Colleagues,
As of today, Oct. 1, 2013, funding for the federal government has been suspended. In an effort to answer some of the many questions you may have about the impact of the government shutdown on research related issues, OSPA has compiled the information and resources
noted below. Please be sure to pay particular attention to the agencies that sponsor your research or that you intend to submit a proposal to, as contingency plans vary slightly from agency to agency.
National Science Foundation (NSF)
FastLane is now shut down, but proposals may still be submitted through grants.gov via Cayuse. NSF will review the effect of the shutdown on its deadlines following the return of its staff. Information about the NSF contingency plan and other details can be

National Institutes of Health (NIH)
NIH notes that eCommons is shut down and requests that no proposals be submitted during the government shutdown. The agency will revise due dates following the return of its staff. The
Information for the NIH Extramural Grantee Community During the Lapse of Federal Government Funding document includes information regarding awarded
projects and how they should proceed during the funding lapse, information about progress reports, NOAs, extensions, etc. Investigators with currently funded NIH projects are strongly encouraged to read the notification in full.
