III) The Quran: A book of today or a book of the past?

People say that times have changed. They say that this is the 21st century. Things should to be different now – different from the past. Today’s world seems to be very different from what we read about regarding the past. Our societies have evolved, our customs have evolved, our knowledge has evolved, and so many other things have become, it seems, so radically different.

And then, there is the Holy Quran! A book revealed 1400 years ago. It is very much an old book, from olden times. Muslims believe that it is a guidance for mankind till the end of this world. But is it really a book of the past, written by the people of the past, for the people of the past? Or is it still relevant to us?

Muslims have always maintained that this book is an inimitable miracle revealed by none other than the Creator of the universe. But what is the basis of this belief? How exactly do Muslims substantiate this claim?

This lecture hopes to enlighten upon how the Quran was a miracle yesterday, how it is a miracle today and how it is going to remain a miracle forever. It hopes to enable them to begin to realize – for full realization takes a lifetime – how apt and relevant this Book is as a source of guidance in every aspect of life. It hopes to strengthen the faith of the believers in this Glorious Book and enable them to respond to basic queries and doubts people might have about its applicability and timelessness.
