My name is Rachel Maher and I work with Startup Riot (SR) in ATL. We curate events for the startup community that foster and encourage growth, and are attempting to increase the profile of ATL in the national startup scene. SR is hosting a few events this month that I feel could be of interest to your students with the entrepreneurial spirit.

From Feb 17-19, we are hosting a hackathon at ATDC. Designers and developers only, you can register as a team ($50) or as an individual ($15 if you use code "makerbot" to register) and find your team at the event. That cost, however, also gets all team members entrance to the main pitch event, SHOW, that will take place at the Tabernacle on Feb 22. This is an AWESOME opportunity for any students with an idea and drive to turn that idea into reality. Tech reps from Twilio, MailChimp, Highgroove Studios, SendGrid, and TokBox will be onsite to help hackers integrate with their APIs. The winners of the hackathon win a slot to present at the SHOW to an audience of 500+ investors and VCs. Details and registration links can be found here http://startupriot.com/make/

Feb 21st, at GTRI, we will host Startup Riot JOIN, a career fair where we try to hook up awesome talent with growing local startups. Currently, we have 11 startups hiring for over 120 full time positions and 22 internships, and that number is increasing daily as more companies sign on. There are LOTS of dev jobs and internships!!! This event is 100% FREE, but job seekers MUST register or else they will not be allowed entrance. Details about the event, FAQ, the list of hiring startups, and link to the registration page can be found here www.startupriot.com/join

And Feb 22nd will be SHOW, the main pitch event. Entrepreneurs are given 3 min and 4 slides to present their product to the audience of judges, investors and VCs. Winners receive $25,000 to further develop their product, and a slot at GitHub incubator in Chattanooga, in addition to a full-day of meetings with investors. Students are also welcome to purchase tickets ($20 when they use code "gsustudent" to register) to be audience members and vote on the top startup presentation. All SHOW details can be found here http://startupriot.com/show/

I'd really love to get some of GSUinvolved and give them the opportunity to participate and engage with the southeast's startup community.
