3. National Muslim Basketball Tournaments (NMBT)

Al-Hamdulillah NMBT has some great news for the upcoming South Regional Tournament in Houston. Al-Hamdulillah with the guidance and help of Allah SWT, we are able to decrease the registration fee for the tournament. The fee for local non-traveling teams will be $325 and the fee for traveling teams will be $300. Please remember to register your teams and submit your payments asap to reserve a spot in our tournament. Please visit our website to register your team: www.nmbt.org. If you have any questions about registration and payment, please email: [log in to unmask]

As NMBT continues to grow we will be continuously upgrading our tournament format to meet the needs of our participants.  We will introduce 2 divisions to our regional tournaments, Advanced and Intermediate. The Advanced Division will be for competitive players of all ages that want to compete at the highest level of play. The Regional Belt will be awarded to the winner of the Advanced Division.  The Intermediate Division will be for High School players and Recreational Adults.  There will be prizes and awards for the Intermediate Division as well. The top teams from the Advanced Division will be invited to the Championship Tournament at the end of the tour, but only the winner of the Intermediate Division will receive an invite.

4. Volunteer Opportunity in India and Morocco

I wanted to send you a quick note informing you of an opportunity for Muslims in North America ages 18-30 to volunteer in India or Morocco in a group this summer with United for Service (www.unitedforservice.org).   It's an excellent opportunity to learn about the challenges of working in a developing country, gain international experience, and expose the youth of our community to an entirely different way of life.

The cost for each trip is as follows: $1300 for India and $1650 for Morocco. This includes: accommodations, food, and in country transportation.  Flights will be the responsibility of the volunteer.  We don't expect volunteers to pay the full cost out of pocket - fundraising is a big part of not-for-profit work and we support all of our volunteers throughout their own fundraising processes.

Applications for the trips are due January 15, 2012.  A reference letter is needed, so don't procrastinate! Applications and more information can be found on our website at:  www.unitedforservice.org.

Please pass along this message to members of your organization, friends, and family who might also be interested! If you (or any of your members) have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me ([log in to unmask]).
