[News from the Offi]

From the Office of Sponsored Proposals and Awards

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the first phase of Georgia State University's Research Portal, utilizing the SharePoint platform, will roll out this Friday, Dec. 13. The portal streamlines many research administrative processes and resources into a one-stop-shop for all your Georgia State research needs including:

  *   online completion, routing and submission of frequently used OSPA forms;
  *   easy tracking of requests and notifications related to awards;
  *   access to up-to-date financial information on award accounts;
  * quick links for applications such as Cayuse424, Spectrum, ERS, iRIS and more.
This first phase will introduce the Office of Sponsored Proposals and Awards (OSPA) portion of the portal. Beginning Friday, users will have access to frequently used OSPA forms transitioned from the URSA website to the portal as electronic fillable forms to ease the completion, submission and tracking process. Examples of OSPA forms housed within the portal include Advance Account Approval, Subcontract Request, F&A Waiver Request, No Cost Extension, etc.

PIs, deans, chairs and research administrators may view the status of all forms submitted via the portal by clicking on "My Submissions."

During this first phase, users have the option to begin completing and submitting these forms via the portal, or to simply browse the portal to become familiar with system navigation and services offered.

Phase two roll out will take place Jan. 27, 2014. On this date, the research portal will begin serving as the primary access to frequently used OSPA forms. These forms will no longer be available for download from the URSA website. The forms should be completed and submitted via the portal. Paper forms will no longer be accepted after Jan. 26, 2014.

Future research portal phases include the addition of internal grants, and compliance and safety sections. These will take place in 2014.

Direct access to the portal is available at http://research.gsuapps.com<http://research.gsuapps.com/>. Users may login using their campus email address and password.

The URSA homepage<http://ursa.research.gsu.edu/> also contains a new main menu link entitled, "Research Portal." This link will take you to a resource webpage that includes additional details regarding the research portal such as quick links, timelines and how-to information.

If you have any questions about the Research Portal, contact Brock Davis<mailto:[log in to unmask]>, URSA lead application developer, or complete the feedback form located within the portal.
