[News from the Offi]

From the Office of the Associate Vice President for Research

Dear Faculty,

This year, we are excited to be able to offer up to $5,000 to assist you in preparing grant proposals to federal agencies with deadlines occurring on or before Oct. 5, 2013. These funds may be used to provide services to assist you in the actual preparation of your grant proposal. These services include proofreading, any special small equipment needed to complete work on your proposal or manage the pilot data for the proposal, or travel to meet with co-PIs or the agency staff to work on a proposal. We are open to considering any proposal-related task that you believe might make your federal grant proposal a high-quality, fundable proposal. Proposals are due on March 15, 2013.

Some eligibility requirements of note:

  * Funds will be awarded to Georgia State full-time faculty only (tenure-track or research-track).
  * We are specifically interested in proposals being sent to NIH and NSF, but will also consider proposals to other federal agencies.
  * We are especially interested in assisting faculty who have never applied, or applied only a few times to federal agencies for funding, but will also consider proposals from faculty with a history of federal funding.
  * Special consideration will be given to proposals related to "cities" and "urban" research topics.
  * Funds must be requested for grant proposals to a federal agency with deadlines on or before Oct. 5, 2013.
  * Funds must be expended before June 15, 2013.
  * No more than $5,000 may be requested by any one PI.
More information and instructions about how to apply for these funds can be found here<http://www.gsu.edu/images/vp_research/Funding_for_Federal_Grant_Submissions.pdf>. For additional information on this and other URSA funding opportunities visit URSA's Funding Opportunities<http://www.gsu.edu/research/funding_opportunities.html> webpage.

If you have questions about this internal funding opportunity, feel free to contact Monica Swahn, Ph.D.<mailto:[log in to unmask]>, Associate Vice President for Research or Kelly Stout, Ph.D.<mailto:[log in to unmask]>, Associate Director for Special Research Initiatives.

Sincerely,

Monica Swahn, Ph.D., M.P.H.
