Hi PIs,

Welcome to a new listserv of all current PIs (well current as of a few months
ago when we created this list). I plan on using this direct email to
communicate some information about grants from time to time (rather than
going through your chairs!).

I would like to thank all of you for the great job you did certifing your effort
for last fall. Thanks to all of you the auditors will find that we are compliant
with federal regulations (i.e., timely certifications). I know you will be doing
the same during this period.

We will be changing to a new financial system (Spectrum is being upgraded to
an entirely new web-based system--Spectrum+) and a new payroll system
(ADP) as of July 1. This means a couple of things for PIs.

First, it is extremely important to make sure spring payroll is accurate for all
grant-supported personnel NOW. Any changes to spring payroll is complicated
so they need to be initiated immediately.

Second, even more than is typical at year end, charges to grants will be
difficult in June so if there is something that needs to be purchased do it now
instead of waiting.

Third, the new Spectrum+ will look very different from Spectrum. The team is
hoping to have a report available July 1 that looks like the reports we use for
expenditure review. However, looking at your budget and expenditures in the
new Spectrum+ system will be different. We will offer classes this summer,
once the system becomes available.

Finally, I want to let everyone know that we have put up a new spreadsheet
on our proposal development webpage which should be helpful when you're
building your budgets.

If you have any questions or comments about URSA send them my way!

Thanks

Amy
