Dear Student,

The University of California, Berkeley is pleased to announce its 2011
Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP), offering students
opportunities for faculty-mentored research in the fields of Astronomy,
Astrophysics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth & Planetary Science,
Geology, Geophysics, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics. The
eight-week program will be held on the UC Berkeley campus from June 5
through July 30, 2011. Participants are provided with round-trip
airfare, room & board, stipend, graduate school preparation workshops,
GRE prep course, UCB application fee waiver, and more.

Basic eligibility requirements include: U.S. citizenship or permanent
resident status; sophomore, junior, or non-graduating senior status; a
3.0 or higher cumulative GPA; demonstrated potential for success and an
interest in pursuing graduate study. The SROP selection committee
follows a comprehensive review and weighs each applicant’s academic and
personal achievements, preparation for research, and the availability of
faculty mentors in their field of interest.

You may access the 2011 program description and application online at:
