Dear Colleagues and CS Students,

The Honors and Awards Committee invites nominations and 
applications for the following awards by Feb 15.  Note two 
new awards - a one- time $2000 John Deere Diversity 
Fellowship for graduate students (preferably 
minority/female), and an annual service award for 
undergraduate or graduate student.

Self nomination by students are encouraged.  All application 
and nomination material should be submitted in a single zip 
or scanned-in pdf file.

1. Outstanding Senior Award: Awarded to an outstanding 
graduating senior.

- Those who have GPA 3.5 and above may send nominations to 
Professor King at [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

2. Undergraduate Research Award: Awarded to a undergraduate 
student who has performed outstanding research.

-  Students should apply to to Professor King at 
[log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> by submitting a 
supporting letter by Faculty Adviser briefly describing the 
nature and significance of the research work since Jan 2011, 
and email any additional material (paper, project report, etc.).

3. Outstanding Service Award: Awarded to undergraduate or 
graduate student who has performed outstanding service 
activities.

- Send nominations to Professor Belkasim at 
[log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>, briefly 
describing the nature and significance of the service 
activities since Jan 2011.

4. Graduate Teaching Award: Awarded to graduate students who 
have performed outstanding teaching and related activities.

- Students should submit their teaching portfolios for 
course(s) taught in 2011 and any additional material to 
Professor Weeks at [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

5. Graduate Research Award: Awarded to graduate students who 
have performed outstanding research.

- Students should apply to me by submitting a supporting 
letter by Faculty Adviser briefly describing the nature and 
significance of the research work published/accepted for 
publication since Jan 2011 and email any additional material 
(papers, reviews, conference/journal acceptance rate, etc).

6. Outstanding Graduate Student Award: Awarded to a senior 
graduate student with an outstanding body of research 
accomplishments over his/her stay at GSU along with 
supporting teaching and/ or service activities.

- Students within a year of graduation should apply to me by 
submitting a supporting letter by Faculty Adviser, a 
curriculum vitae, and any additional material.

7. John Deere Diversity Fellowship for Graduate Student:  
The purpose is to provide a fellowship of $2000 to a 
graduate student with 3.0 GPA or higher who demonstrates 
exceptional promise in the field of computer science, with 
preference for a minority or female student.

- Students should apply to me by submitting a supporting 
letter by a Faculty Adviser, a curriculum vitae, and any 
additional material.
