Dear PhD students,

If you are supported by our department, you are expected to teach a course as an instructor in each academic year.

Please fill in the 'Teaching Preference Form for Instructors' in OGMS (http://grid.cs.gsu.edu/~ogms/) by Tuesday, March 28th, 2023. The dropdown list includes all the courses that need to be taught by GTAs. Please select at least 1 course from each level (1***, 2***, 3***, 4***) and provide totally 5 preferred courses.

After login OGMS, click “Funding” on the left panel. Then click “Teaching Preference Form for Instructors”. Click the ‘Apply’ button to begin. All the fields are required. Please fill in the email that you check regularly. Make sure to correctly input your email address (e.g., don’t miss ‘student’ in ******@student.gsu.edu).

Your support will be greatly appreciated by our department and you will have higher priority for future GTA assignments. For the courses with no volunteers, we have to assign based on your teaching workload history. If you are asked to teach more than once in a fiscal year, you will be paid extra stipend. The assignments are mandatory and going back to home country is not an acceptable excuse.

Such teaching experiences are very beneficial to your future job hunting, especially for the ones who would like to work in academia. Usually, candidates with such teaching experiences get more interview opportunities.

Please note: you should log in OGMS through VPN. Instructions for connecting to GSU VPN can be found at https://cscit.cs.gsu.edu/sp/guide/vpn<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcscit.cs.gsu.edu%2Fsp%2Fguide%2Fvpn&data=05%7C01%7Cwli28%40gsu.edu%7C605f875269d74a3aaad508dad1555234%7C515ad73d8d5e4169895c9789dc742a70%7C0%7C0%7C638052461641702899%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=TQrr87L4nANsn%2FnCraCAtXr0lKu9C1vPw2Z9P8O6kH4%3D&reserved=0>. If you encounter any system problems, please contact the OGMS Team at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.

Best,

Lisa
