Project descriptions (Projects marked in RED require the candidate starting IMMEDIATELY!)

Project 1 UNDERWATER: Channel measurements for underwater optical wireless communication. Will involve underwater robots, conducting on-field experiments (in actual lake and water tanks in facilities external to GSU campus), measurements and signal analysis, modeling.
Position: UG or Grad RA for Summer 2020
Duration: 1 May to 1 Aug, 2020
Pay: $2500-3000 (total)
Outcome goals: Publication and open-source data/code

Project 2 VLC:  Building novel low-power visible light communication modules for robust association of radio wireless information with SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping). Will involve optical wireless communication, lab and sometimes road experiments, circuit design, software stack development, computer vision. Collaboration with WINLAB at Rutgers University and Old Dominion University.
Position: UG or Grad GRA for Summer 2020
Duration: 1 May to 1 Aug, 2020
Pay: $2500-3000 (total)
Outcome goals: Publication.

Project 3 VISUALLYIMPAIRED:  Conducting surveys with Visually Impaired participants from the Center of Visually Impaired. Will spend 1 hour interview with about 20-30 personnel over a timespan of a week or two. Will record audio, video and note answers to questions from an extensive survey (lasting for about 1hr for each person).

Duration: immediately
Pay: $800-900 (total)

Outcome goals: Creating a robust survey data and Publication.

Project 4 WORM:  (with Drs. David Maimon (POLICY) and Anu Bourgeois (CS), in Collaboration with EVIDENCE BASED CYBERSECURITY LAB). Empirical characterization of cybersecurity threats with focus on viruses and worms. Will involve RaspberryPi experimentation, Python, extensive experiments on GSU campus (different buildings), analysis of large dataset and data mining, machine learning.

Position: only Grad RA starting immediately through Aug 1, 2020
Duration: present to 1 Aug, 2020 with potential for continuity
Pay: $3000-4000 (total for 6 months)
