Dear students, faculty, and all GSU Anthropology community members,
Welcome to the fall 2022 semester! We are excited to see you back and to embark on more learning and conversation with you!
If you are on campus this week, you may notice some changes. The Department of Anthropology suite in Sparks Hall was renovated this summer. We have new paint, carpets, ceiling tiles, and lighting, all of which were greatly overdue. We just gained access to our space last week after being in other locations for the summer, so please bear with us if you see boxes and bare walls. We will be rebuilding our campus home in the coming weeks.
Many of your professors are back on campus, while a few are teaching primarily online and others are on research leaves. Please contact them by email to set up appointments you may need and/or to inquire as to their preferred formats.
If you have other questions or concerns about classes or programs, you can contact me or our department administrative specialist, Lynda Bourne ([log in to unmask]). Lynda's office is immediately to your left when you enter the suite. The suite will be open this semester from 8:30-5:15 Monday-Thursday and 9:30-3:30 on Friday.
If you have questions about how the university is handling covid-19, or want to make an appointment to get a test or a vaccine, visit https://covidinfo.gsu.edu/. Please mask up on campus, particularly in common spaces and in classes and meetings where there is sustained interaction, and err on the side of caution and with consideration for those in our community who may be most vulnerable to infection.
Finally, keep an eye out for a department newsletter coming out very soon. It will give updates on the last two years, during which our students and faculty have been very busy and have been recognized for their work within and beyond the university.
Stay tuned...and have a great semester!
Jennifer Patico, Chair
