Dear colleagues,
I just received this query from the Goethe Zentrum Atlanta. Maybe you did too. I am guessing one or more of you may be interested in participating in the event that is mentioned. More generally, this seems like a promising ongoing connection for us. J.

Subject: RE: Cooperation on an upcoming event about Colonialism/postcolonial thinking

Dear Sabrina,

Thanks for your email. This sounds like a very interesting project, and I think it would be a wonderful idea for our department to collaborate with you in some way. We have a number of ethnographers working in both European and postcolonial contexts, as well as faculty in archaeology and biological anthropology with interest and experience in anthropological representation in museums. I am going to forward this note to my colleagues and we will have discussion about how/who might best collaborate.

More soon, Jennifer

Subject: Cooperation on an upcoming event about Colonialism/postcolonial thinking

Dear Dr. Patico,

I am writing to you in the name of the Goethe Zentrum Atlanta, in the hope of an exciting cooperation for one of our upcoming events on European colonialism / post-colonialism. The event is scheduled for the 8th of December and will be held in a kind of panel discussion with different renderings. We are therefore searching for public speakers linked to this topic. GSUs' research and staff concerned with this topic is therefore of great interest for us and we would like to welcome you or one of your colleagues or even students/PhDs with interest in this area on this day if possible?

The precise orientation and questioning of the discussion will accordingly depend on the speakers and the cooperating associations, developing in the course of the planning. A focus will definitely be put on European colonialism and its ongoing effects throughout the world in order to link it to the Goethe Zentrum as a German language Institution with Goethe Institute offices worldwide. Another topic of interest the Goethe Institute has been involved with worldwide is that museums and the problem of objects provenance especially in an anthropological context. We therefore plan on partnering up with the Alliance Franšaise as well and shedding a light on France and its links to colonialism just the same. From looking at your staff, there are many doing very interesting research and teaching about these topics and the geographical focuses I had in mind.

If you have any more questions, suggestions or contact information feel free to contact me.

Herzliche GrŘ▀e
