My name is Chelsea Johnson, and I am an undergraduate 
student majoring in Business Administration with a 
concentration in Computer Information Systems at Winthrop 
University. I am a current Ronald E. McNair Scholar, so I 
will be conducting research for the next two months during 
what is called a Summer Research Experience. The purpose of 
my research is to identify what motivates students, 
particularly women and minorities, to not only complete 
their undergraduate studies in computing but to continue 
their educational pursuits to the graduate level. I am using 
an online survey to gather my data, and graduate students 
currently enrolled in computer science programs are my 
target participants. I realize that you are most likely a 
busy individual, but I would truly appreciate it if you 
could lend some of your time towards aiding me in my 
research. I am including a note to the potential 
participants, as well as a link to the survey. My hope is 
that you would be willing to forward this email to the 
students in your department/program and encourage them to
